Goat Cheese Puff Pastries Recipe

Advertisements

Have you ever made Goat Cheese Puff Pastries at home?

I confess that anything involving puff pastry is a temptation. That, and the fact that I’m much more of a savory person than a sweet one. Although, you can’t do without one or the other. ahah

Anyway, goat cheese puffs pastries, who doesn’t like them?

Well, I’m not the biggest fan of cheese. All those stinky cheeses, like mountain cheeses and the like, I can’t stand! But a nice goat cheese, nice and warm and melted, with a touch of honey on top, it is just wonderful! And with some nuts…

Can I tell you something that has nothing to do with it? This weekend I was told that I have a habit of saying “wonderful” to all kinds of food that, to me, are truly tasty! I never realized that before, but okay, maybe it’s true. ahah Do you guys notice that?

Back to our goat cheese puff pastries. I made this recipe by chance since I went to a friend’s house for dinner and needed to surprise her in some way. I was so complimented, I decided to make it again! And since then I make this recipe whenever I need a starter or snack and don’t have time to waste.

Yes, this recipe is easy and it’s super fast! It’s really perfect for those who don’t have time, plus it works great. No need to be afraid, it’s that safe recipe that always saves us.

I buy the puff pastry. I could make it at home, but for that, I need to perfect the technique.

Who knows, maybe one day I’ll be able to make these complicated pastries at home. Right now I have a kitchen too small for such adventures.

These goat cheese puff pastries are a very good recipe and almost look like a restaurant entrée (modesty aside!). But trust me, you’ll cry for more.

The touch of honey on top goes perfectly with the pastry, which as I said, is puffy and quite crispy. Just the way you want it!

You can also do some playing around and experiment with herbs, for example, thyme or rosemary (which go great with honey). Or you can make your own creation with other things… Who knows, maybe add some tomato and basil and it will be great! Take a chance!

Another thing you can do, which I haven’t tried yet but I have a feeling will work well, is to add some fig slices to the puff pastry. It should be AMAZING!

GOAT CHEESE PUFF PASTRIES RECIPE (APPROX. 10 UNITS):

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 package of puff pastry (if you use the square / rectangular puff pastry it will be easier, but it is not mandatory to use that one)
  • 1 package of goat cheese
  • Pepper to taste
  • Thyme to taste (or another herb of your choice)
  • Coarse salt to taste
  • Honey to taste (optional)

PREPARATION METHOD:

  1. Start by preheating the oven to 180º.
  2. Slice the puff pastry into squares, about 8 cm wide. Set aside.
  3. Slice the goat cheese into pieces about 2 cm thick. If the pieces are larger, you run the risk of breaking the dough when it is in the oven, and the cheese will come out of the puff pastry.
  4. Take a piece of puff pastry and place a piece of goat cheese on top.
  5. Sprinkle with pepper and thyme to taste (or other herbs and spices you like).
  6. Take another piece of puff pastry and place it on top, making a lid. Close it well and press the sides so that it doesn’t open.
  7. Arrange the puff pastry on a baking tray lined with baking paper.
  8. Sprinkle the puff pastry with coarse salt.
  9. Bake for about 30 minutes or until the puff pastry rises and turns golden brown.
  10. Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes (2 to 3 minutes).
  11. If you like honey, put some on top of the goat cheese puff pastry and sprinkle with some more thyme sprigs.
  12. Serve.

Suggestion: Serve as a starter or as a main dish with a salad or rice.

Take these goat cheese puff pastries to the beach or on a picnic.

Serve with mango chutney, for those who like it, it’s great!

You can also try it with other types of cheese, for example, mozzarella cheese.
