Lately I have been receiving a lot of messages asking me for my naan bread recipe. It’s a great recipe and super simple to make and the naan bread is really good when it’s still warm.
There’s nothing better than eating a naan bread along with a curry recipe or even as a snack. There’s some days in which we really need a treat. ahah
I love naan bread and there are lots of variations, but for me the best of all is the naan bread with garlic and coriander.
And of course, in the end, a nice piece of melting butter spread in the naan bread. Awww that’s wonderful!
But the sky is the limit. Do it with spices, only with butter, with melted cheese, with caramelized onion, well feel free to try any variations…
You can even use this naan bread recipe to make a frying pan pizza or even a few wraps if you make them thinner.
But speaking of our naan bread, I like it tall, fluffy and very warm, awww OK, i’m already drooling!
How do you make this wonderful naan bread recipe?
I could just tell you that all you have to do is mix all the ingredients and you’re done. Basically it’s how I see all my recipes, because most of them are very easy.
And frankly, if you just mix all the ingredients, the recipe works the same. But take a look at the complete recipe so that you get a better result and a very fluffy and tasty naan bread.
For this recipe you’ll need:
- Wheat flour
- Plain yogurt
- Baking powder
- Olive oil
- Garlic cloves
What are the tricks to make naan bread perfectly?
To begin with, it is important that you have an anti stick pan, otherwise I advise you to grease your pan well so that the dough does not stick.
Mix all the dry ingredients well.
Garlic and coriander should be chopped well, especially the garlic, so you get all the nice tfragrance from the garlic without biting the large pieces of garlic.
As naan bread bakes very quickly, if the garlic is not well chopped, it will end up raw and it is not very pleasant to eat raw garlic. ahah
Mix the olive oil and yogurt well in the mixture until a homogeneous mixture is formed.
And add the milk only at the end, because the idea is that the milk helps to obtain the desired consistency. Therefore, I advise you to put the milk little by little.
Finally, after dividing the dough, you can stretch it with a roll pin, but if you want a very fluffy and tall naan bread, mold it with your hands (which is how I do).
It looks kind of rough, homemade and believe me it’s delicious!

- 2 cups wheat flour or oat flour, whole wheat or spelt flour
- Salt to taste
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 cup plain yogurt
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- ½ cup milk or what is needed to achieve the desired consistency
- 4 a 5 chopped garlic cloves
- Coriander to taste
- Butter to spread
- Start by adding flour, salt, sugar and baking powder in a bowl and mix well.
- Open a cavity and add the yogurt, olive oil, chopped garlic and coriander.
- Mix all the ingredients well and then knead it like a bread dough (you can put it in the mixer or in the kitchen robot, but I do it by hand).
- It is not necessary to knead too much, just until they get a uniform and malleable consistency.
- Add the milk little by little until you get a bread-like consistency.
- Divide the dough into 4 equal parts and shape the dough in circles into oval shapes, as I did.
- Take the naan loaves to the hot frying pan until they are golden brown on both sides.
- If your frying pan is not anti sticky, grease it with olive oil or butter, so that the dough does not stick.
- Spread with butter and serve.
