Naan Bread

A yummi and super simple recipe to cook anytime, and the best is to eat these naan loaves when they are still warm. They are perfect to go along with a curry or to eat as a snack. Don't forget to spread them with a piece of butter, which ends up melting, it's a real temptation!

Portions: 4 loaves

Ingredients

  • 2 cups wheat flour or oat flour, whole wheat or spelt flour
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tbsp  olive oil
  • ½ cup milk or what is needed to achieve the desired consistency
  • 4 a 5 chopped garlic cloves
  • Coriander to taste
  • Butter to spread

Instructions

  • Start by adding flour, salt, sugar and baking powder in a bowl and mix well.
  • Open a cavity and add the yogurt, olive oil, chopped garlic and coriander.
  • Mix all the ingredients well and then knead it like a bread dough (you can put it in the mixer or in the kitchen robot, but I do it by hand).
  • It is not necessary to knead too much, just until they get a uniform and malleable consistency.
  • Add the milk little by little until you get a bread-like consistency.
  • Divide the dough into 4 equal parts and shape the dough in circles into oval shapes, as I did.
  • Take the naan loaves to the hot frying pan until they are golden brown on both sides.
  • If your frying pan is not anti sticky, grease it with olive oil or butter, so that the dough does not stick.
  • Spread with butter and serve.

Notes

Serve with a curry or even as a snack.

You can replace the olive oil in the recipe with melted butter if you want a richer naan bread.

Make thinner breads if you want to stuff with cheese and assemble them in this order: a layer of dough, one layer of cheese and another layer of dough and only then take it to the frying pan.

The same case if you want to stuff with caramelized onion for example, which tastes great!

You can also take the naan loaves to the oven if you prefer, but they bake very fast, so pay attention to the time ammount of time you leave them in the oven.
