Cured Ham Mozzarella and Cherry Tomatoes Homemade Pizza

If there’s one thing we love to make at home, it’s pizza, and cured ham, mozzarella, and cherry tomatoes homemade pizza is WONDERFUL!

At home, we love to make homemade pizzas. The whole process of making and assembling the pizza, from making the dough to putting the filling on, is so exciting! Yes, we are like two kids. ahah

And that waiting time while the pizza is in the oven?! Well, I think we are worse than two children!

Of course, we love to go to an Italian restaurant that has fantastic pizzas, but since cooking is something we enjoy, we always take the opportunity to experiment and “play chef”.

I feel that many people are afraid to eat a nice pizza because “oh so and so, it’s not healthy”; or “oh and so are carbs”; or “oh and so, I’m on a restrictive diet”.

These kinds of comments make me extremely sad! It’s so sad that people are afraid of food and afraid of getting fat because they’re going to eat pizza.

Let’s think about this… If we have a balanced life, will a night of pizza do us harm? NO!

Will one or two slices of pizza, which we will eat during that meal, make us fat? NO!

Will a homemade pizza, made by us, with fresh and good ingredients and where we know exactly what is on it, harm our health? NO!

So why are we still afraid of food? And why do we live in terror of the food ghost?

Guys, sorry, it was just a rant!

I hope you all see this article, read it, and think about it. And then run to the kitchen to cook your own cured ham, mozzarella, and cherry tomatoes homemade pizza or another one with your favorite ingredients! And then?

Then you can eat it with the greatest pleasure in the world because none of it will harm you!

I make this recipe with the help of my kitchen robot, more precisely my Yammi which is wonderful! I will explain how to do it in the Yammi, but of course, you can do it even without a kitchen robot.

For the dough:

  • 500 g unleavened flour + enough for sprinkling
  • 2 sachets of dry baker’s yeast
  • Salt to taste
  • 30 to 50g of olive oil
  • 200g of water
  • 1 egg

For the tomato sauce:

  • 1 large onion (or 2 small / medium)
  • 4 cloves of garlic
  • 50 gr olive oil
  • Oregano to taste
  • 2 cans of peeled tomatoes
  • 1 red bell pepper
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • Basil to taste (optional)

For the filling:

  • 1 ball mozzarella cheese
  • 4 to 5 slices of cured ham
  • 10 cherry tomatoes cut in halves
  • 1 handful of arugula
  • Olive oil to taste
  • Grated parmesan cheese to taste

For the dough:

  1. Place the flour, dry baker’s yeast, and salt in a mixing bowl and mix for 15 sec, on speed 5.
  2. Add the olive oil, water, and egg and choose the knead option, programmed for 2 min.
  3. Place the dough in a bowl and cover it with a cloth. Put it aside for about 1 hour, so that it can rise. I usually place it inside the oven or the microwave.
  4. Sprinkle a flat surface with flour (I usually do this on the kitchen counter) and roll out the dough. Turn the dough out onto the pizza tray or base and set aside until it’s time to assemble the pizza.

For the tomato sauce:

  1. Before you start preparing the tomato sauce, you can preheat the oven to 200º.
  2. Place the onion diced into small pieces and the garlic cloves into the bowl (you don’t need to wash it after making the pizza dough).
  3. Choose the crush/mash option. If the pieces are not quite mashed, repeat this process.
  4. Add the olive oil, the oregano, and the basil and program 10 min, 120º, on speed 2.
  5. Now add the tomato, the diced bell pepper, and the seasoning to taste (salt and bell pepper) and program 20 min, 100º, on speed 2.
  6. To make the sauce homogeneous, program 1 min at speed 5.
  7. If it is still chunky, mix again for 1 min at speed 6.
  8. This recipe results in a lot of sauce. Put the sauce in a glass container and reserve until it’s time to use. Keep the rest in the refrigerator for other recipes or freeze.

For the filling:

  1. Prepare the ingredients. Slice the mozzarella cheese into pieces and the cherry tomatoes into halves.
  2. Assemble the pizza, starting by placing the tomato sauce on the base (2 ladles are enough).
  3. Spread the mozzarella cheese and the cured ham and put the cherry tomatoes in halves on top.
  4. Bake for about 25 minutes, or until golden brown.
  5. Remove the pizza and place the arugula on top.
  6. Add a drizzle of olive oil and the grated parmesan cheese.
  7. Serve.

Suggestion: Use the ingredients you like best for the filling.

You can replace the arugula with fresh basil or spinach and the mozzarella cheese with burrata.

You can make the tomato sauce with fresh, ripe tomatoes.

If you prefer, put pesto on the base instead of tomato sauce. It tastes great too!
